Afar Garment Care Guide
Our garments are made from natural fibres designed to endure, soften, and evolve with you.
With thoughtful care, they remain timeless companions for many years.
The Fundamentals of Organic Fabric Care
Read the Care Label
Every Afar piece comes with tailored care instructions on the inside seam.
These reflect how each fabric has been tested for durability and appearance over time.
Following them helps preserve both structure and colour.
Wash Less
Washing too often shortens a garment’s life.
Air clothing between wears.
Freshen naturally in sunlight (turn garments inside out first).
Spot clean marks promptly with mild soap and water.
Wash Wisely (Fill Your Machine)
Wash similar colours together, whites, colours, darks.
Clean matching sets together to keep consistency.
Separate delicates from heavier fabrics like denim or towels.
Use a garment bag for delicate items.
Avoid overloading, it increases abrasion and wear.
Don’t Iron Unless Necessary
Wrinkles are part of the charm of natural fibres.
Steam to refresh between wears.
If ironing, do so while garments are slightly damp.
Protect delicate items by ironing inside out or with a cloth barrier.
Air Dry Rather Than Tumble Dry
Reshape seams while damp and hang to dry.
Sunlight brightens whites; dry colours in shade to avoid fading.
Avoid tumble drying, high heat shrinks and weakens fibres.
Use Biodegradable / Green Detergents
Choose gentle, biodegradable detergents.
Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, or optical brighteners.
For odour or bacteria, add diluted vinegar to the rinse (not for elasticated fabrics).
